Turnkey Homes, LLC is in Kaukauna, and we think it’s a great place to consider building your home with us. If you love recreating outdoors, there are many places to enjoy nature in Kaukauna this summer. Here are just two fabulous ways you can enjoy summer in Kaukauna, and we think these make our town attractive reasons to live here.

1000 Islands Environmental Center

Let’s start with this massive 350-acre nature and animal refuge along the Fox River. This dedicated land has activities for both summer and winter with a focus on education, conservation, and recreation. There are over seven miles of trails for hiking in spring through fall, and for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter. There is a one-mile trail along the Fox River with approximately 2,000 feet of boardwalk.

This area along the Fox River is home to nesting eagles, herons, owls, bitterns, teal, coot, ducks, mergansers, and songbirds. Check out the Nature Center with its 300 trophy mounts from North America, Africa, and Asia as well as several live animals. There are year-round educational programs that teach the importance of the inter-relationships between humans and the environment. Admission is free and donations are appreciated. For more information, visit them online at 1000 Islands Environmental Center.

Extensive Outdoor Park System

If you desire even more outdoor space to recreate with family and friends, our parks and protected greenspace are a way of life in Kaukauna. With over 450 acres of parks and green space around the mighty Fox River, this is no ordinary city park system. From the beginning, the city developed around its natural assets, leaving room for nature to thrive. Kaukauna features 35 city-owned parks and open spaces totaling 458 acres within the city limits. Parks are classified as regional, local, or neighborhood, and open spaces are urban or natural. These parks and open spaces feature a wide range of settings, amenities, and natural environments. For example, Riverside Park is a 13-acre community park and one of the city’s most popular parks. It has a softball field, picnic facilities, shelters, boat docks, a fishing pier, and boat launch ramps on the Fox River. Be sure to check out the children’s rock-climbing wall under a canopy of old shade trees.
